Modern day efficiency on classic cowboy firearms ...
Welcome to the website of Jim McMahon aka Jimmy Spurs. I am a full-time gunsmith that specializes in working on competition firearms, especially Cowboy Action Shooting firearms. I can help make your lever action rifles (Henry 1860, Winchester 1866, Winchester 1873, Winchester 1892, Marlin 1894), revolvers (Ruger Vaquero, Ruger New Vaquero, Ruger Blackhawk, Colt Single Action Army, Colt clones), shotguns (Winchester 1897 or double barrels), derringers and single shot rifles smoother to operate so you can concentrate on shooting.
I work on reproductions and originals. All my work is 100% satisfaction guaranteed. I do some general firearm repair. Machine shop services such as milling, lathe work, welding, etc. are available and done on the premises.
(As a member of IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association) it was easy to see the need for action work as well as a good trigger job. I have been shooting and working on S & W Double Action revolvers as well as the S & W Semi Auto pistols such as the M&P line for many shooters that are looking for the competitive edge that can only come from a well-tuned firearm. Contact me for more info.)
You can also buy your new firearms through me as I am a licensed FFL Dealer. Instead of buying your Ruger New Vaquero, Uberti, Taylor's & Co. Cimarron, EMF, etc. firearm somewhere else, let me know what you want and I will get it for you and work on it too! Call me for availability and prices.
I am no stranger to the workshop. I have been building and racing snowmobiles for a number of years and have many championships and several world records with our hand-built sleds.
I've made pretty good progress in my eleven years of CAS shooting having won the 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007 and 2006 SASS NH State Championship to add to the TOP GUN at the 2011 SASS North West Regional and the 2010 SASS New England Regional. I was also TOP GUN at the 2009 SASS NC State Championships, TOP GUN at the 2009 and 2006 SASS NJ/DE State Championships and TOP GUN at the 2008 SASS MA/CT/RI State Championships. I'm not shooting that much any longer so I can concentrate on getting the work done for my clients.
I want to thank Gordon Levitt (Single Action), Bill English (Happy Trails), Lee Shaver - Gunsmith, Ron Powers of Powers Custom, Jim Lincoln of the Cowboy & Indian Store, LLC and others for sharing their knowledge about CAS firearms with me.
Contact me to arrange pickup, shipping and delivery. Do not ship anything without arranging it with me first! I shoot Cowboy Action Shooting, race snowmobiles and occasionally do other things so I am not necessarily around to accept your firearm shipment without prior arrangement.
New! CNC-machined billet Stainless Steel magazine tube followers for 1873/1866 Winchester rifles. They help prevent rust buildup in the magazine tube for only $25 each and you really should get a stainless steel magazine spring at the same time ($25 each).
New! Colt-style half-cock hammers for Ruger Vaquero's and Ruger Single Six revolvers. Ever short-stroked the hammer and had to go all the way around to find the live round? Click, click, click, click. How many rank points do you rack up doing that? It isn't a matter of "if" you will need it, but rather "when" you will need it. Avoid it with the Colt-style half-cock hammer.
