Action Work

  • New! Ruger Vaquero 'Full Race Gun' package: Top Gun Action Job including widening the rear sight notch, beveling the cylnder, ejector rod housing and ejector rod. Colt-style Half Cock hammers (no more slip hammering!) and set back triggers. All for $465.00 each. I will also jewel your hammer and trigger as well as diamond cut your front sight at no extra charge!

Video of Jimmy Spurs shooting a stage and the advantage of the half-cock hammers. He slips off the hammer of the third shot on the first pistol and keeps on going. How long would it have taken to go all the way around? Especially you Duelist and Gunfighters!

  • Revolver action jobs are $299 each and includes: deburring of all internal parts and the removal of any casting slag, widening the rear sight slot, rework of all internal springs and a trigger job that provides a nice clean break. Any bluing due to machining would be an extra cost, but stainless steel guns can be polished at no charge. "Free Spin" pawls installed and other services available on request.
  • Revolver rear sight notch: If you already have a revolver action job and just want the rear sight notch opened up to better see that front sight I will dissamble your revolver, clean and inspect all parts, mill out the rear sight notch and reassemble for $45 each.
  • Colt-style half-cock notch hammers for all Ruger Vaquero's and Single Six .32's are $199 each. The benefit of this modification is when (not if) you have your thumb slip off the hammer before it is completely cocked, the hammer will fall only halfway and when fully re-cocked you are on the same cartridge and don't have to cycle all the way through the cylinder to find the live round. You know that painful 'click', 'click', 'click', 'click' searching for the live round. How many seconds did it cost you to go around and maybe even have a miss too? Only $199 per pistol.

  • Custom Polished and Jeweled Hammers and Triggers on rifles, pistols and 1897's for $45 a gun.

  • Henry 1860, Winchester 1866 and Winchester 1873 rifle action jobs are $599 each. All the internal parts are removed and inspected for proper fit, finish and tolerances. All springs are reworked and tuned to each individual rifle. All rifles receive extensive trigger work and provide a crisp clean break according to each shooter's individual request. The timing and head space are checked and adjusted if needed. Each gun is internally deburred and highly polished where needed. As a result the shooter can expect back a gun that is a pleasure to shoot.
  • Henry 1860, Winchester 1866 and Winchester 1873 rifle 'short stroke' kits with a special lightweight lifter block are $599 each. The 'short stroke' kit is built in-house using your original parts to make each kit fit your rifle. Each original brass carrier is put on a "Crash Course Diet" on my milling machine for one hour resulting in a much lighter and more efficient carrier that is hand-fitted to your rifle. Here are some examples of before and after short stroke work and carrier/lifter work.
  • Henry 1860, Winchester 1866 and Winchester 1873 rifle 'Full Race Gun' packages are $1,198 each. This is a combination of an "Action job" (#1 above) and 'short stroke' kit and lightweight lifter carrier (#2 above) that is not only smoother and faster to cycle, but easier and more fun to shoot! All 'Race Gun' packages (i.e., action job and short stroke) also come with a Marbles bead front sight and a leather lever wrap at no charge. This is the way to do it up right! I guarantee you will be satisfied.
  • Marlin 1894 rifle action jobs are $499, plus $45 for a titanium one-piece firing pin (highly recommended). All internal parts are removed and inspected for proper fit finish and tolerances. All parts are polished and deburred when needed. All springs are reworked and fit to each individual gun and steps are taken to help prevent the dreaded "Marlin Jam". The addition of a titanium one-piece firing pin really helps these guns.
  • Winchester 1892 rifle action jobs are $499 each. All the internal parts are removed and inspected for proper fit, finish and tolerances. All springs are reworked and tuned to each individual gun. All guns receive extensive trigger work and provide a crisp clean break according to each shooter's request. A shooter can expect to get back a rifle that is not only smoother to operate, but much more fun to shoot! And we do want to have fun, right?
  • Winchester 1897 shotgun action jobs are $499 each. All the internal parts are removed and inspected for proper fit, finish and tolerances. All springs are reworked and tuned to each individual gun. The magazine tube is polished. When these guns are in 'Full Race' mode (i.e., action job , 20 inch barrel, polished magazine tube , highly polished bolt, properly cut stock to your length of pull, Kick Killer Recoil pad, etc.) they not only cycle faster and operate smoother, but they just plain look FAST just sitting in your cart!
  • I can shorten your original Winchester 1897 shotgun barrel, plus drill, tap and install a large bead front site for only $65.
  • I can adjust the length of pull on shotgun stocks and add a leather lace-up recoil pad for $65. This can really help smaller frame shooters.
  • Double barrel shotgun action jobs are $599 each and well worth it. All the internal parts are removed and inspected for proper fit, finish and tolerances. All springs are reworked and tuned to each individual gun. Chambers are polished to help in getting those hulls out and the top of chambers are "funneled" to help getting them in! Automatic safeties can be switched to manual safeties. You can expect to get back a gun that is not only easier to open and close and load, but are fun to shoot!
  • Single Shot Rifles can also use some help, especially with the trigger. A poor trigger can make it very difficult to shoot long range well. Check with me on how I can help ...
  • Bond Derringer action jobs are $499 each. All the internal parts are removed and inspected for proper fit, finish and tolerances. All springs are reworked and tuned. All guns receive extensive trigger work and provide a crisp clean break. The result is a derringer that is easier to cock and fire. And it is also faster and easier to open and reload! I built a Bond derringer in 2005 that placed first in the SASS Maine State Championships in Falmouth, ME and placed second in the SASS North East Regional in Thurmont, MD. With two hands on the table and gun resting on table --- Two shots fired on steel in .77 sec in Maine and .85 sec in Maryland. It went better in 2006 as I won every SASS State Championship Derringer event in New England and New York, plus the SASS North East Regional.
  • As a member of IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association) it was easy to see the need for action work as well as a good trigger job. I have been shooting and working on S&W Double Action revolvers as well as the S&W Semi Auto pistols such as the M&P line for many shooters that are looking for the competitive edge that can only come from a well-tuned firearm. Contact me for more info.
  • General firearm repair can also be done. Check with me before sending your firearms!

Hours are by appointment only, Please call to make appointment. No walk in services available.
