Racing & Stuff
I have been racing for 15 years and my partner, Kurt Lombard has been racing for around 20 years. About ten years ago we decided to start traveling to most of the races together and help each other as a team. In 1999 we both sold our sleds and Kurt kept his 700cc motor that he had custom built by The Crank Shop. I found a DART chassis in Anchorage, Alaska in the fall of 1999. It is a one-of-a-kind hand-built chrome moly chassis with independent front suspension. We had it crated up and put on a ship to Seattle and then on a truck to us. It took us around ten weeks of 3:00 am nights to complete the sled. We won the Canadian World Championship this year making it five years in a row! Kurt does all the tuning and I do the driving.
I want to say a "Big Thanks" to my partner and best friend, Kurt Lombard (The Captain). He is without a doubt the best Open Modified Drag Sled tuner in the business.
Here's a link to a short video of us racing in 2009. We are the red sled. (660 feet in 4.8 seconds. 135mph. 60ft in 1.0 sec)
Jim McMahon and Kurt Lombard with drag sled at a race. The motor produces 195 horsepower and the IFS chassis weighs 320 lbs. race ready. Every nut and bolt on the sled, motor or suspension is made of titanium. The sled runs from a dead stop to 660 feet in 5.36 seconds at 124 mph. It can cover 60 feet in 1.16 seconds and 0-60 mph in 1.8 seconds. We hold two world records with 700 cc in Open Modified at 5.36 seconds at 124.6 mph and one in Heavy Modified at 5.53 seconds. The race courses are 660 feet long (1/8 mile) with 1200 feet of shut down on glare ice either on a lake or flooded field.

And also a big 'Thank You' to Cory McLean for doing a great job driving in the Open or Lite classes with our sleds.
